head office and the need to ensure that connectivity to each branch is
maintained, 2 x 34Mbps leased lines
were installed in a fault resilient configuration at the head office.
This specification ensures that there is sufficient bandwidth to meet
the requirements of the branches and for Internet access to the head
office. To prevent Internet access using too much bandwidth any traffic
not destined for or originating from a branch is restricted to a maximum
of 2Mbps.
The second 34Mbps leased line is delivered from a different PoP and
thus removes the PoP as a single point of failure thus in the event
of the primary leased line or the PoP it is terminated in failing;
the backup line will automatically start routing traffic with no loss
of service to the customer or their branch offices.
The customers chose to manage the security of their own network and
so all network traffic is passed through the customers firewalls.
