Leased Line Solutions

Below is a typical example of how a company can benefit from using our leased line product:

Corporate Connect+

The Customer
A national retail chain.

The Challenge
The customer has stores located throughout the UK, several regional offices and a central head office. The main head office accommodates a server cluster running their EPOS application as well as other general systems such as e-mail, web, and active directory servers. All stores and offices were connecting to the head office via ISDN telephone links these were expensive to use and restricting the flow of information through the company due to bandwidth limitations. All sites require access to the Internet.

The Solution
Progressive Networks' provided a much improved communications system by utilising our diverse range of products.

Further Information

The stores themselves only have a few members of staff and so ADSL connections were installed and a site-to-site VPN created between each store and the head office. At the hub of the network a high-availability firewall cluster was installed to protect the network and to terminate the VPN's.

For each regional office a 2Mbps leased line was installed. The extra bandwidth necessary due to a higher number of users simultaneously accessing the system. These too were connected via a site-to-site VPN.

The head office and the customer disaster recovery site are connected to the hub of the network via 100Mbps Ethernet connections. A further 1Gbit connection was installed between the head office and disaster recovery site to ensure fast database replication without compromising network performance.

To provide the head office, disaster recovery site and regional head offices with Internet access; 10Mbps of Internet bandwidth was terminated at the hub. This ensured that the internal network of the customer could not be reached from the Internet but the customer could communicate with devices outside of its network.
